Senior Electrical Engineer
The Senior Electrical Engineer leads Evoltix Energy’s electrical engineering team and directs the design, development, and technical direction of electrical systems and components that support existing and future Evoltix Energy products. This position carries direct people-management responsibility for the Electrical Engineering team, including engineers and the CAD/design technician supporting electrical design work, and owns hiring, performance management, workload planning, and professional development for the team.
The Senior Electrical Engineer also remains a hands-on technical leader and the senior technical authority for electrical design decisions — creating and reviewing detailed technical drawings, product definition drawings, and manufacturing documentation that support Production’s build and assembly needs; conducting testing, experimentation, and analysis to optimize product performance; and diagnosing electrical issues across the product lifecycle. This role collaborates closely with Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, R&D, Production, Materials, Field Services, and Sales to ensure integrated, manufacturable solutions, and serves as a technical resource for both internal teams and external customers.
This position reports to the Director of Power Products.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directly manages the Electrical Engineering team, including engineers and CAD/design technicians, who report directly to this role.
- Owns the full people-management lifecycle for direct reports: recruiting, interviewing, and hiring; onboarding; goal-setting and performance reviews; coaching, mentoring, and professional development; and corrective action when necessary.
- Plans, assigns, and prioritizes workload across the electrical engineering team to meet project and production schedules.
- Approves timesheets, PTO requests, and expense reports for direct reports in accordance with company policy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Team Management
- Manages, mentors, and develops the Electrical Engineering team, actively training and elevating engineers within the electrical engineering discipline, and fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Owns hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career-development planning for the Electrical Engineering team.
- Sets team goals and priorities in alignment with departmental and company objectives; partners with the Director of Power Products on resource planning and headcount needs.
- Allocates and rebalances project workload across the team, adjusting assignments to meet shifting production and project schedules.
- Serves as the primary escalation point for complex electrical engineering and design challenges.
- Represents the Electrical Engineering function in cross-departmental planning with Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, R&D, Production, Materials, Field Services, Sales, and Quality.
- Provides ongoing engineering support to Production, Materials, Field Services, and Sales — including manufacturing troubleshooting, sourcing and BOM guidance, field technical issues, and customer-facing technical questions — to ensure designs translate cleanly from engineering into build, supply, and post-installation support.
- Acts as a visible, hands-on leader by regularly spending time in Production and, when necessary, traveling to job sites — observing the work firsthand, engaging directly with Production, Field Services, Materials, and Sales, and using that firsthand insight to inform design and process decisions.
- Establishes and maintains electrical design standards, templates, and best practices across the team.
- Leads technical training and skill-development initiatives for engineers and technicians on the team.
- Reports on team performance, project status, and resource needs to the Director of Power Products.
Technical & Engineering Responsibilities
- Designs and develops electrical and electromechanical products and systems using 3D and 2D CAD tools, applying advanced engineering principles including circuit design, power distribution, controls, and applicable electrical codes and standards.
- Interprets requirements from internal stakeholders and external customers, collaborating with cross-functional teams — including R&D — to inform design direction and ensure feasibility.
- Creates and reviews detailed technical drawings, models, product definition drawings, and manufacturing BOMs — including single line diagrams, power plans, wiring diagrams, panel schedules, and installation details — to support accurate production, assembly, and Production’s build needs, in close collaboration with Mechanical Engineering.
- Conducts research, testing, and feasibility studies to validate product concepts and optimize system performance.
- Collaborates with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, and R&D to ensure electrical designs are manufacturable, support efficient assembly, and meet quality standards.
- Designs and implements testing methods and validation protocols to confirm product functionality, durability, reliability, and compliance.
- Prepares and presents technical reports summarizing test results, design updates, and performance data.
- Diagnoses and resolves electrical issues arising across the product lifecycle — from design through production, field deployment, and customer support.
- Assumes final responsibility for the technical accuracy and constructability of finished electrical designs released by the team.
- Performs thorough checking and final review of electrical design packages prior to release.
- Serves as the final technical authority for the electrical engineering discipline, resolving design questions that require senior engineering judgment.
